The ultimate experience in B&B
Hazel is a wonderful host and at Higher Leigh she has evolved an experience which is par excellence, a simply stunning home, with a wonderful homely feeling which has been enhanced by artefacts and images from home and abroad. We booked a three-night stay and enjoyed the landscape, ambience & peace this unique experience provides. Don't hesitate when contemplating whether or not to book this establishment it's host, style, vista will stay with you until your next return. We will be returning many times, God willing. The quality and attention to detail, will give you that internal smile we all have, when we know something is just right. Perfectly located for adventures in the South Hams area.
Thank you, Hazel, for helping to make our short break so goooood!
Absolute B&B perfection
This is a fantastic accidental find for me . I expected a top quality B&B, this place exceeds expectations in all areas . Hazel is the perfect host and has worked very hard to create a great environment . Her attention to detail is outstanding - she has covered and planned every aspect to ensure that her guests enjoy a great experience . The house is in a lovely location with great views over beautiful gardens . The rooms are decorated to a very high standard with some very interesting artefacts gathered from Hazel's travels. The food is well prepared and of a very good standard - everything is sourced locally and it shows. My personal favourites being the armadillo sized croissants and home made hedgerow jam.
Hazel is also a font of local knowledge and goes to great lengths to help her guests plan visits and local walks .
We really enjoyed our brief stay and look forward to a return visit . This really is a B&B not to be missed .
Just had two wonderful days at Higher Leigh House in a superb location with the most relaxing, comfortable and welcoming experience. Previous reviews sums up everything, top quality rooms and attention to detail is amazing and Hazel is the perfect host that makes it all happen.
Found this wonderful home, a fantastic place to stay and unwind purely by chance, but what a find. Hazel is a great hostess, with obvious attention to detail and focused on making your stay a success - and she succeeds. The house is beautifully decorated and simply a pleasure to be in. There are so many areas where Hazel has spent time and effort thinking about what works and how to deliver what her clients are looking for - from food ingredients to decoration, to bedding, to local advice - the list goes on...
Thanks Hazel !
We will certainly be back - and soon.
We arrived down a country lane to be greeted by a beautiful house and garden. Hazel offered us refreshments and showed us around the house which had everything you could ever wish for. All the little extras made it special.
The bedroom gave lovely views for miles and everything in it was excellent quality. The following morning the breakfast was also very nice and we were given suggestions as to where to visit. Nothing was too much bother and we appreciated this. Should we return to the area we will certainly stay here again.

Quiet sophistication and very friendly for dogs
Hazel has created an enchantingly beautiful home enriched by art from her travels. We stayed overnight and enjoyed the tranquility of her garden and living room and were made to feel extremely welcome. Our dog stayed in Hatch with our son and had a special dog bed. The breakfast was delicious - all the more so because Hazel sources products from local suppliers. There is plenty of information to look at and read about things to do in the South Hams area. We are very pleased that we stayed here and will certainly return if we are in this part of Devon again.
